Cricket Nets outside mine site |
The mining industry is one of
Australia’s biggest employers with thousands of workers living and
working on sites far away from home often in remote locations. Many
workers will stay for weeks and months on end and aside from rolling
around in the dust there isn’t much to do in the Australian Outback
as you can see in the photos below!
At Advanced Nets and Ropes we were
asked to design and create a netted sports system for use on mine
sites in order to give workers somewhere to keep active and have fun
when not working. This particular installation features artificial
turf, an artificial cricket wicket and is fully enclosed sides and
top by tensioned netting in order to provide an area to play indoor
cricket whilst outside (the tensioned net acts similar to a wall when
hit by a ball).
Similar to our Cricket Nets, entry is
via a high quality zipped net door.
The finished net structure is permanent
and is therefore designed to withstand all weather conditions. The
netting is UV protected to the maximum level possible without
degrading the quality of the net, in order to protect it against the
harsh Australian sun and make it long lasting.
